A small team building one panel for game servers.
We run servers ourselves. Managing a fleet meant a wall of SSH sessions and a different dashboard for every host. So we built the thing we wanted: one screen for the whole fleet.
How it started
Gamemanage started with one annoyed operator and a tab problem. Six game servers across three hosts meant three control panels, a handful of saved SSH sessions, and a notes file of which box ran what. Restarting a server after a bad update was a five-step chore. Checking why one had gone quiet meant logging into the host and tailing a file by hand.
None of the existing tools fit. Host panels only knew about their own machines. Generic dashboards didn't understand game servers. So we wrote a small resource you drop onto a server. It reports back to a panel, and from there you can watch it, restart it, edit its config and pull a backup. The first version managed our own servers for a few months before anyone else touched it.
It's still a small team. We answer our own support, we run on the panel we ship, and we'd rather fix the boring parts of running a server than add features nobody asked for. That's most of the story.
What we hold to
A few things we try not to break.
Not a manifesto. Just the calls we keep making the same way.
The panel stays out of the way
You should reach for it when something needs doing, then close the tab. We don't add screens you have to learn before you can restart a server.
Show what's actually happening
Live numbers, real logs, the action that just ran. If the panel says a server is up, it's up. The dashboard never goes stale on you.
Don't lose people's work
Backups run on a schedule and rollback is one click. A bad update or a fat-fingered wipe should be a five-minute fix, not a long night.
Charge a flat price
One server or two hundred, the price doesn't jump because you grew. We'd rather you trust the bill than budget around it.
By the numbers
One panel for every server you run, priced flat.
The team
Small on purpose.
A handful of people, and a few seats we're hiring for.
